KOI

This is a piece experimenting with digital illustration techniques, and depicts a classic image that resonates with my childhood. I went to school in Southeast Asia for most of my life, and a staple of these schools, a common thread between the vastly different cultures and people, was the communal koi pond. This artwork signifies an end to my schoolkid days, and an ode to the connection it brought me to otherwise unfamiliar or disconnected experiences.

This illustration depicts my relationship with my self-image, showing the different facets of my identity and the connections between them. At the time of creating this piece, I was exploring ideas of deep love for one self, and the things and circumstances that stop us from ever reaching that level.
